  • O6000W-P Single-Use DMS Rocket Motor New Product Information Release 2/1/2024

AeroTech/Quest is pleased to announce the NAR certification and immediate availability of the largest high-power rocket motor ever produced by AeroTech, the new single-use DMS Disposable Motor System O6000W-P.

The O6000W-P measures 152mm diameter x 1,120mm long (5.98 in. x 44.1 in.), making this AeroTech's first 6" diameter high-power rocket motor. The larger diameter was required to contain the nearly full "O" power rating. The static tests for this motor were so spectacular that we've decided to attach videos to this New Product Information Release, plus photos. The new DMS O6000W-P (P/N 15600P) produces a total impulse of 39,620 N-Sec (8,907.37 lb.-Sec.) and delivers a peak thrust of 9,564 N (2,150.18 lbs.) with an impressive burn time of 6.77 seconds. Its delivered total impulse is extremely close to the maximum limit allowed for a Class 2 rocket. Loaded with 22,000g ( 48.5 lb.) of White Lightning propellant, AeroTech's most popular propellant formulation, this motor delivers unbelievably spectacular lift-offs and awesome flights.

Designed to lift large single or multi-stage rockets and heavy payloads, and with an all-up motor weight of 31,520 g (69.5 lb.) it's perfect for mega-size rockets or 30,000 to 40,000 ft. (9,144 m to 12,192 m) college and university payload/altitude competition. It is also potentially capable of reaching 100,000 ft. (30,480 m) altitudes or more with a sleek, high performance airframe and optimized payload. This is a "plugged" rocket motor that does not produce delay smoke or contain an ejection charge and requires the use of an electronically-activated recovery system.

Because the O6000W-P is shipped fully-assembled with a propellant weight of 48.5 lbs., it is considered a "1.3C" rocket motor and requires shipping by a 1.3C-capable carrier, which is extremely expensive. End users, however, may pick-up the O6000W-P rocket motor at our plant in Cedar City, UT. We suggest that you consider this a "Road Trip" rocket motor and when you pick it up, also plan to tour our new AeroTech/lSP facility, Museum of Composite Propellant Hobby Rocketry and museum store in Cedar City, UT. We are located just off Interstate 15, 2 1/2 hours north of Las Vegas, NV. Our plant is located in the middle of Southern Utah's tourist country with famous national parks, monuments and ski areas including Zion, Bryce, Cedar Breaks, Kolob Canyon, Arches, Brian Head and even the Grand Canyon just minutes or a few hours away. If you do plan to pick-up your O6000W-P rocket motor at our facility in Cedar City, please advise our Customer Service Staff of this when you place your order so they can confirm our hours of operation for picking-up your motor.

        • AeroTech RMS J615ST-20A Aerospike Rocket Motor Reload Kit New Product Information Release 8/12/22
AeroTech/Quest is pleased to announce the Tripoli certification and immediate availability of our new RMS Reloadable Motor System J615ST-20A rocket motor reload kit (No. 106120), the first high-power hobby rocket motor featuring an “Aerospike” nozzle and designed to use the two-grain RMS-54/852 hardware. Our Aerospike nozzle provides an especially cool "I flew one” experience for our high-power flyers. Theoretically, an Aerospike nozzle expands the rocket motor exhaust gases around a center body rather than internally in the exit cone of a conventional nozzle. Aerospike nozzles have the advantage of being self-adjusting to the rocket’s ambient pressure in flight and therefore can be more efficient than a traditional fixed-expansion ratio nozzle when used at a wide range of altitudes. In consumer applications, however, the Aerospike nozzle is utilized more for its unique appearance and novelty rather than for performance reasons. Our Aerospike nozzle does produce a rather novel exhaust plume.

The J615ST-20A has a high-thrust profile for heavy rockets delivering 745.5 N-Sec (167.6 lb.-Sec.) of total impulse with a 1.2 second burn time and an all-up weight in motor hardware of 1.8 lb. (801.7 g). This new rocket motor utilizes AeroTech’s aerospace-grade Super Thunder (ST) propellant formulation with a burn rate midway between Blue Thunder and Warp-9 propellant types. The J615ST-20A generates a peak thrust of 933.9 N (209.7 lb.) with an average thrust of 615.1 N (138.3 lb.). The J615ST-20A includes an ejection charge and produces tracking smoke via a 20 second time delay adjustable to increments of 18, 16, 14 and 12 seconds.

        J615ST-20A Specifications
        Diameter: 54mm (2.13”)
        Length: 240.4mm (9.5”)
